Electrical Officer / ETO Course
Electrical Officers (ETOs) are trained to maintain and troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems on board ships. This is a short-term 4-month training program, followed by onboard training, and is ideal for Electrical/Electronics Engineering diploma or degree holders.
Eligibility Criteria:

Passed 3-year diploma with 60% marks or 4-year engineering degree (including lateral entry) with 55% marks in:

Electronics Engineering

Electrical & Electronics Engineering

Electronics and Communication / Telecommunication Engineering

Electronics and Instrumentation or equivalent

Degree must be AICTE / State / Central Government recognized

Minimum 50% marks in English at 10th or 12th level

Must be fluent in written and spoken English

Age limit: Not exceeding 30 years on the date of training commencement.
Selection Procedure:

Qualify written test (online/offline), personal interview, and psychometric test

Clear medical examination by a DG Shipping approved doctor
Course Structure:
-
Pre-Sea Training: 4 months (Awarded ETO Certificate upon successful completion)

On-board Training: 8–9 months (Trainees receive a stipend of USD $400–$600/month)

After training and course completion, obtain COC/License from DG Shipping as a certified Electro-Technical Officer (ETO)
Commencement of Course:

January & June every year
Sponsorship Requirement:
This course is also generally a sponsored program. Students are strongly advised to secure sponsorship from an RPSL-approved company before enrolling.
