Deck Cadets are trainee navigating officers who undergo an extensive training program structured in three key phases:

• Pre-Sea Training

• On-Board Sea Training

• Post-Sea Training

They are trained to become deck officers on board merchant ships, responsible for:

• Navigating the ship

• Managing deck and cargo operations

• Maintenance work

• Communication and safety on board

Eventually, a deck cadet progresses through ranks to become the Captain (Master) of the ship and commands the vessel.
