B.Tech / B.E. in Marine Engineering
This is a 4-year degree program (spread over 8 semesters) focused on Marine and Mechanical Engineering. The curriculum includes a foundation in engineering sciences, exposure to humanities and social sciences, and advanced marine/mechanical engineering subjects. Emphasis is placed on operating, managing, and maintaining shipboard machinery.
Eligibility Criteria:

10+2 passed with 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM)

Minimum 50% marks in English at 10th or 12th level

Fluent in written and spoken English

Age limit: Not exceeding 25 years on the date of training commencement (5 years relaxation for SC/ST candidates)
Medical Fitness:

Eye Vision: Unaided 0.5 (6/12) in each eye or 0.67 (6/9) in better eye and 0.33 (6/18) in the other

No colour blindness

Must be medically fit as per DG Shipping norms
Selection Procedure:

Qualify IMU-CET (conducted in June every year) – 200 questions on PCM, English, GK, and Reasoning

Attend IMU counselling and select the institute

Pass medical examination by a DG Shipping approved doctor
Course Structure:

Pre-sea Training: 4 years (Awarded B.Tech/B.E. Marine Engineering on successful completion)

On-board Training: 6 to 9 months (Awarded COC/License from DG Shipping as Class IV Engineer upon passing the required examinations)
Commencement of Course:

March & September every year
