General Purpose (G.P.) Rating

General Purpose (G.P.) Rating

(Course Approved by D.G. Shipping, Govt. of India)

The General Purpose (G.P.) Rating course is a short-term training program designed to prepare trainees for work on board merchant ships in both Deck and Engine departments. These multi-skilled personnel assist officers and engineers during ship operations, and hence are called General Purpose Ratings.

After completing 36 months of sea time, a G.P. Rating can pursue further studies and appear for exams in India, the UK, Australia, or Singapore to become a certified Deck or Engineer Officer. This path requires dedication, hard work, and discipline.
