Eligibility Criteria:

Passed 10+2 with 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM)

Minimum 50% marks in English at 10+2 or 10th level

Fluency in written and spoken English

Maximum age: 25 years at the time of course commencement

Age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST candidates

Medical fitness:
-
Eyesight: 6/6 in each eye (no color blindness)

Medically fit as per Directorate General of Shipping standards.

Selection Procedure:
- Qualify IMU-CET (Common Entrance Test)

Conducted online in June and December every year
-
200 questions from PCM, English, General Knowledge, and Reasoning
-
- Clear Sponsorship Test
-
Includes Written Exam, Psychometric Test, and Personal Interview

Conducted by DG Shipping-approved RPSL shipping companies
-
- Clear Medical Examination
-
-
Conducted by a DG Shipping-approved doctor

Course Structure:
-
Pre-Sea Training (1 year)
-
Awarded Diploma in Nautical Science upon successful completion

On-Board Training (18 months)
-
Divided into either:
-
2 phases of 9 months each, or
-
3 phases of 6 months each

Cadets receive a stipend of USD $250 – $5000/month during training

Post-Sea Training (6 months)

Upon successful completion:

Awarded Certificate of Competency (COC) as a Second Officer by DG Shipping

Conferred B.Sc in Nautical Science by IMU

Course Commencement:

Twice a year: February and August
